Default classic wrx power

Hi guys im new to the scooby scene ,, a few weeks ago a bought a import wrx 1998, now im looking at tuning ££££ lol ,. before i spent any money i took it so santa pod for usc 2008 and some how the car managed to run 13.2 @ 98 mph second 1/4 mile (60 ft time was 1.7) i was very happy with that, and even more happy when i got home and back to work i lifted the car on a ramp and noticed that the exhaust was bodged and was actually a 1" after the first cat then back to 2 1/2 system lol,, thats now changed to 3",, i have also just fitted a a boost gauge as i wanted to see how the boost was and the answer is it hits full boost 16psi then drops off straight away to 14 psi then holds to the red line,
do you think its been chipped , mapped or anything else i have no idea what power its got etc ,

I want more power tho lol what mods do you think id need next as i said im new to scoobys .

cheers guys jeff.

depends how much you want to spend but a good start would be decat the exhaust, fuel pump, panel filter and a remap

im not sure if you can map your ecu because its an import, i no you you cant map the uk 98 ecu. i wouldnt go for a chip if you want the most out of your car, id go for an aftermarket ecu such as an apexi power fc or a simtek. have a word with jolly green monster or another respectable mapper to put you in the right direction.

Open up the ecu to see if it's been chipped.
That year ecu can't be mapped yet but enduring solutions are working on it.
Before spending money on the car it would be best to see how it's running now.

think its about 13odd psi iirc - 16psi is 1.1bar which seems a little high for standard but is very normal if its been decatted

true. you need an esl daughterboard at £550ish which plugs into the ecu or a complete replacement ecu such as a simtek which is more like £1000

the standard fuel pump is definitely worth replacing with a walbro 255ltr/hr (only £90 and easy to do yourself) as otherwise you wont get the best out of the other mods

the standard top mount is good for 350bhp iirc so you might be better off spending the money on some secondhand sti 440 injectors to help match the increased airflow
