Bubbles in coolant..
Right this morning, my dad was having a fiddle in my engine bay. but i had to go out, now he forgot to tighten the rad cap up, not the cap on the rad, the one to the left of the inlet manifold.
I drove around 2 miles with it like this (until i noticed steam from the scoop, i imediatly pulled over and screwed cap on, Ouch!).. lost some water, but still header tank didnt look that empty after being left alone for 2 hours..
So cant have used that much.
But im just curious as when i rev the car with the header tank lid off, it bubbles up in the coolant? But when idling its fine.
Is there any reason for this? Is that normal? The cars temp did not rise at all over the right temperature at any point.
I just wanted to double check as i get very paranoid lol.
The car is on 26k so i wouldnt have thought the headgasket would be on its way out at all.
So if anyone could stop be worrying that would be great!

Yeh dont worry mate. So long as you didnt cook it, youll be fine. The resovoir will bubble up if you blip the throttle with the cap off. The pressure in those resovoirs is emense when the car comes back from a good run. You cant take the lid off.
Make sure the water level in the top up chamber is at the correct level (by the right wing as you look at the engine from the front) and all will be fine.

But i was just a bit worried when seeing the bubbles. The tank on the right was above minimum. ive topped it up more sort of in the middle of max and min.
So i should be alright? Haha.
Thanks mate

If the slosh wasn't there before I would suspect some air in the system. To try and eradicate an airlock turn car on with the heater on full. Let the car run (stationary and at idle) until the fan cuts in and out twice. Let her cool down and then check coolant level. If necessary top up and repeat.
Hope that helps
