P1 Engine
Been offered a P1 engine to replace my knocking engine do people on here think it's a good idea to swap them over? The P1 engine has covered 52k.
Always heard P1 engines are pretty good and i've always liked P1's
I won't divulge the price it would cost me but the guy said he would sort out fitting and removal of my engine on top of the price.
Any thoughts welcome

P1 engine is the same as the STi V5 - all depends on how the engine has been looked after during its life - regular quality oil changes/was it thrashed from cold etc etc.

As pointed out, P1 engine is a stock STi v.5, but whose own spec ECU had a tad more knock control built in (either directly by Prodrive, or on their instruction to STi), to help cope with the UK's 95/97 RON compared to Japan's higher octane brews.

Why has the P1 engine been removed from the P1. Prob a valid reason but the sceptic in me says that 50/60 seems to be the times P1s pop.
Is yours totally dead? Whats the millage on yours?
Will you be getting the whole set up? P1 turbo, intercooler, heads etc or just the block with your bits back on?

The engine was taking out and he replaced with a 2.5 litre.
My car isn't totally dead no it's still been checked out next week i might not be going down the engine swap route maybe just a rebuild. The mileage on my car has done 68k full service history. Not %100 sure if i'd get full setup either not properly talked to him yet.
I'm 50/50 what i'm gonna do but i'm leaning more towards a rebuild if it needs done seems more of the safer option for me now.

bottom end only, perfect condition always run on millers 10/60, regular oil changes, gone 2.5 route so this is surplus to requirements, its my mates engine whom i know well, he is willing to remove old engine & build up new engine & drop in, for money on top.
bottom end £550
bottom end £550
