Hello would anybody know what this might be ?
I have a funny ticking sound r/h side (sounds like its just behind the blukhead) i'm new to turbo cars but i've got it into my head that its my turbo on its way out , i hope i'm wrong is there any way of telling. lost no power. i've got a 95 w r x (import)

Sounds like the boost solenoid. Its mounted at the top of the suspension strut.

Normal for it to tick.

 

had ticking from my old uk turbo turned out to be the spark plugs needed replacing

 

If it's a regular tick like a sound of a spark plug then yes it's the boost solenoid.

But if it's a rattle sound near the bulkhead then it could just be the exhaust downpipe heat shield. Mines been rattling for a while no bother though.

Could possibly be an injector as these can tick with age when they pulsate. In all honesty could be a lot of things so many variables. Does the car run okay? If so I wouldn't worry about it for now my wagon does the same..

car runs fine, a bit sputtery when pulling away in 2nd & 3rd

 

Exhaust gas leak from the up-pipe will make a ticking sound.

 

as will a sticky valve and a hundred other variables im afraid
