Default Need help choosing a sti tmic!!!

ive been looking at STI top mounts to go on my99 uk, but im unsure which is most suitable. Ideally i would like a straight fit as im no magician when it comes to tools . so far ive come across one that came off a my51 p1 and ive also seen a version 6 sti tmic aswell, which of these would work best .

advice much appreciated

Hi L.J.F, I have been looking at exactly the same thing. Mines the same MY as yours. I think an STi 8 intercooler is the one to go for. They do pop up on here and on fleabay. Read this link it really is very precise and informative.

This was something I looked at a while ago.
From my research it would appear that any of the classic STI/P1 intercoolers offer very little cooling advantages over the standard MY99/00 i/c.
The newage STI i/c onto classic modification is by far the best upgrade but I didn't have the ***** to start chopping coil packs and brake resevoirs so I sacked that idea.

In the end I went for the newage WRX intercooler which required very little modifications but was considerably larger that the standard i/c. I also fitted the WRX undertray to gain max benefits.

The cost of the i/c was very cheap £25 off Ebay and the undertray was £25 delivered so quite cheap.

I will try to find my guid of how I did the job.

AFAIK classic intercoolers are the same whether STi or WRX. The difference is in the paint and the plumbing. The actual core is identical otherwise. The cast inlet pipe on the STi is what improves the flow. A good simple and cheapish mod that will get you most of the way there is to simply bin your WRX/Turbo 2000 intercooler pipes and swap for Samcos.
