thats just the crank pulley for us one if you buy over here they tend to be crank, power streering and alternator. if you look in group buy section cdf are doing pulleys and BOB'5 is doing perrin crank only for £99

I have got a FV34 ready to fit getting prodrive 3 port boost sol this week and high pres fuel pump this week, so thought i might get som lighter pulleys. Clutch may last another 6 months so will uprate that along with lighter flywheel. Just want better response from the right foot.

Well I've got a set from CDF ready to go on, mainly cos they look cool and everything on the front of the engine always gets corroded so might as well replace them. Don't know whether it's cos I live by the sea?

there are many many better mods to do to gain power than pulleys.
However if you have many many many mods already and need to extract a couple of brake a free-er revving motor then by all means.
Mainly bling imo

As Peanuts says above, there might be better things to spend your money on if you want a definate performance improvement but
they look cool and everything on the front of the engine always gets corroded so might as well replace them

and I see Ian agrees too.
My under driven pulleys originally came from GFB but since then I have had a few sets from Chris at CDF Racing. You might as well replace all the pulleys at the same time and not just the crank. Don't be taken in by the guff on the GB thread about being the lightest pulleys and all the other crap there. I have never had any electrical problems with under driven pulleys and if you think about it, if the crank pulley is under driven and the alternator and power steering are also under driven then the revs will be much the same as they were in the first place anyhow.
The OE pulley is 2.51kg and the crank pulley from Chris is .37kg.
The business about removing 100kg from the weight is more guff.
Not a priority mod but I guess that many a mickel macks a muckle.

Cheers for the vote guys,

Just a quick note that our underdrive pulleys are made to order and as Harvey says they won't affect the charging or anything . Ours are made slightly larger than cheap ebay ones 114.5mmo/d ebay ones 110mm which are known not to charge the battery as well

Made from 6061T6 aluminum and weighing in at 1.2lbs, the PERRIN pulley is more then 4 lbs lighter then the stock crank pulley. The PERRIN pulley is not under driven and will not affect the life of your engine. The pulley is a redesigned, lighter rendering of the stock crank pulley.Aftermarket, under driven, pulleys are prone to charging and drivability problems from being excessively under driven. The PERRIN Performance lightened crank pulley will have no effect on your cars charging system. The PERRIN Performance pulley achieves power and performance by reducing the rotating mass of the crank assembly. That reduction is effectively the same as removing 100 pounds of weight from your vehicle. The PERRIN Performance pulley will not wear out engine bearings or the oil pump, and will not add any additional vibration or noise"
Who writes this guff?

OK Chris. We know your pulleys do not affect charging but can you confirm also :
will not affect the life of your engine.
and
will not wear out engine bearings or the oil pump, and will not add any additional vibration or noise"
and
what do you know about
drivability problems from being excessively under driven.
Oh and what about noise and vibration?

I think we need information and assurances from you on the above points Chris.
Also, as your pulleys are a lot lighter than the ones referred to above, is the reduction :
effectively the same as removing 100 pounds of weight from your vehicle.
or is it more?

We demand the truth.

Not sure about those perrin pulleys as I haven't seen one, but if they are stock size an have flanges on it won't be so easy to get the belts on and off .

OK Chris. We know your pulleys do not affect charging but can you confirm also :

Quote:

and

Quote:
will not wear out engine bearings or the oil pump, and will not add any additional vibration or noise" We have never had any problems with Subaru pulleys , some worry about the bearings etc and I would recommend having the crank shaft balanced when fitting lightweight pulleys to some cars i.e rover , honda engines. but it's not a problem with these modern engines

and
what do you know about
Quote:
drivability problems from being excessively under driven. Think they mean not charging correctly

Oh and what about noise and vibration? AH? Yes maybe if you have a poorly made pulley..... we had some of the ebay ones a few years back to check out , they had oversized bores, the vee's were not made to correct pitch depth and flanges where the belts sit were too close so the belts squeeked, so yes if you have a crap pulley you may have noise and vibrations

I think we need information and assurances from you on the above points Chris.
Also, as your pulleys are a lot lighter than the ones referred to above, is the reduction :

effectively the same as removing 100 pounds of weight from your vehicle. WTF! Don't know where they got that
or is it more?
