Default 98/99 spec

hi guys
My car is on a T plate (99) and therefore should have the facelift front end but it doesnt. I have been told it may be a 98 car registered as a 99 car. How would i find this out?? only reason im asking is that i need a new MAF sensor and dont know which one to go for.
Heres a few pics of the engine, any help would be great.
Thanks

Mat

That's a 98 version 4. Check the seat belts tags to confirm.

coil pack in centre of the inlet mani is a big giveaway with the 98,on a 99 its offset to the right of the manifold

its a phase 1,5 engine by the looks of it, (centrally mounted coil pack), so I'd say its a 1998 car

And to really answer your question the MAF is the early type, which you can't buy just an insert maf for but have to buy the whole package.
(But everything in the engine says MY98)

Exactly the same as my MY97 engine bay so I would go for the earlier MAF sensor! Prob quite an unusual car as all the T plate ones I've ever seen have facelift bumpers on em!! (I prefer the later facelift bonnet with the earlier bumper)

Yes its a 98 like mine, and if you want more power its a new ECU 97 and before or 99 and after you can map the ECU! Dont ask me why they did that................

Because Subaru like to be difficult, and cost you as much money as possible?

Looks like a MY98 to me too

I replaced my MAF last year and got a brand new one from Grade A Subaru for £180

If you are unsure what one you need have a look see what colour the sticker is thats on your current MAF then ring around and ask for a MAF with that colour sticker, if my memory serves me correct most MY98 cars have an orange stickered MAF
