Steve likes the kick in the back from a laggy 2.0L
Where as a 2.5 the power delivery is more widespread. I'll bet that the 2.5 is quicker just that the hit of the power coming in makes a 2.0L seem quicker.
My 2.5 450 bhp was far more driveable than my 360 bhp 2.0L ever was.
As for the 2.5 being lazy at the top end that's rubbish. Mine would hit the 8k rev limiter no problems and peak power wasn't far away from their either.

Surely if you're doing the build anyway, go for the 2.5. I'm doing a 2.0 CDB but only because I couldn't afford a 2.5 short block at the time. As they say 'there's no replacement for displacement'.

For road use you can't beat the 2.5 , the instant torque it delivers just makes driving so pleasurable..

Thanks for the feedback guys,i was basing the 2.0 or 2.5 on how i will buy my next scoob,it will either be and old RA which allready has the cdb and build from that or try and get old of a later v5/6 type r/ra with a dead engine and replace with the 2.5,but looking at the price of the v5/6 type r/ra's it may be an old ver 1 sti ra,as my budget will only be 10k plus a bit of cash here and there,
Do the cdb's only come in the version 1 sti ra's? what year is this up to?
