Hi, im looking into fitting an alloy facelift bonnet,as they look better,and should also line up with the sti 5 tmic i've fitted.
Which models came with the alloy bonnet? Did the RB5 have one?

Sti RA had one

 

Most imports do, my wrx does.

 

P1 has one I think

 

My STi V3 has one

 

My v3 type r has one also

 

all import saloon and coupe from 97 to 00 had the ally bonnet you are looking for, wagon import wrx got a steel bonnet and bottom arms like the uk cars.
the dimensions of both bonnets are identical.

To ask the next question, how much lighter is the alloy bonnet than the steel version? Would there be any point fitting one to a UK turbo?

My v4/MY98 WRX wagon (imported when new on an S plate) has one. They are noticeably light.

 

I think that's an understatement.

The Ali Bonnet is alot lighter.

Especially as I've been hit on the head with both and the Ali one hurt alot less LOL

 

My last classic had the steel one,my RA has the alloy one,much lighter,but sadly not the facelift. I've just got my new lights and corners today,so will fit them with the facelift grill for now,have to keep an eye out for the bonnet.
