Default Can you remap a remap?

Hi all, my ecu has had an Ecutek remap, but is it possible for a.n.other person to open the map and twiddle around with it or is it locked (?) by the original mapper. I'm looking to get a few tweaks due to upgrades but cannot locate the guy that remapped it originally.

My understanding is that the map has to be completely reflashed, regardless of how much to alter it (even a little tweak). This means the mappers laptop needs to hold the complete map.

So you can remap a remap but only if you go back to the mapper that did the original one and they still have the map on their computer.

I don't think they like sending maps to each other

Correct.

I am sure some will do that if you get in contact with the original mapper and there is a good reason for it etc.

the whole issue of maps is more to do with artistic license, does the owner of the car own the rights to the map, or the mapper?

but as said the origional mapper will be able to tweek the map rather than do a full custom map

Any ecutek dealer can overwrite them but they are not able to actually download the existing map on there. Therefore a different mapper will only be able to load 'their' map on not tweek an existing map.
