Default fuel cut?

Hi, I've noticed something weird happening with my car everytime I'm running low on fuel. If I drive it hard, particularly coming off of a corner on to a straight it seems to hit fuel cut half way up the rev range.

At first I thought it was overboosting so I turned the boost right down but it still did it. Oddly, it seemed to hit fuel cut in 2nd usually.

Is this due to me not having much fuel?

Would be great to hear some thoughts on this as it's really bugging me having spent a lot on a boost controller

thanks

Hi mate when i bought my scooby the guy who i bought it off advised me not to throw it round corners when low on fuel as they have been known to cut out something to do with where something is in tank, not sure what though cant remember what he said exactly

Might be the fuel moving to one side of the tank and the fuel pump not getting enough fuel from the tank?

Is quite worrying, will it do damage to the car. Any ideas why it's usually 2nd gear or is it because I'm usually in 2nd gear when coming off tight corners thanks

thanks for the info, I will try and find out about it. Is there anyway to avoid it. Or is it just a case of putting more fuel in?

If you know you're gonna seriously hoon in advance, then I suggest making sure you've got over 1/4 (c.15 ltr) left.

Indeed, it's a good habit to regard 1/4 as 'empty' and fill up when needle reads 1/4 fuel left in tank. Gives you peace of mind - especially knowing that the fuel pick-up wont be gulping air, like it could if it was running on 'vapour' whilst cornering hard.

will make sure it's always got a reasonable amount of fuel in it in the future. It looks like another strange thing to look out with Impreza ownership!
