Quite possibly the neutral position switch - common issue on bugeye's, I had exactly the same on mine. The good news is that it's only a £30 part.
As above, get the code checked - I think mine was incorrectly reporting a misfire, the light would come on when pressing on. Since replacing the nps it's been fine.

The reason I ask is that the Bugeye moved over to the new Denso ECU from the JECS.
The Bugeye newage ECU is pretty complicated and used quite active knock control, turned off the aircon at high boost etc. it even had room for a reduced boost map (if activated).. toggled by pressing the rear screen demist and the throttle.
This came at a price as the early Newage (Bugeye) suffered from quite a lot of CEL's... Camshaft position sensor errors, Misfire flashing CEL's ........ after 7 years of development the Current ECU is pretty stable and even more sophisticated LOL
As escott posted the ECU got a bit confused if the NPS was flakey..it would flash all sorts of problems.....the most common being a misfire !!
I'd have the historic codes read off the ECU and if it's a misfire then swap the NPS switch......or just see what happens ?
