Prodrive pack on sti
Hi, i'm new on here!
I've bought a 53 plate sti and it was advertised as having the prodrive pack.
It has an exhaust that is very similar to to prodrive upgrade one but it doesnt have the stamp on the side so i was a bit curious to know if my car did or did'nt have the ppp.
I called into my local subaru dealer tonight and the salesman says the only way you can tell if it has the ppp is it should rev to 8500rpm and he tried it and mine did'nt, it revved to just over 7500rpm.
Thanks

You sure its not the wrx sti prodrive style , this is the sti with a prodrive style pack fitted , rear spoiler twisted side skirts headlights and fog light covers it is the same power as the sti about 265 bhp.
If it has the PPP pack fitted there should be a certificate with the car prodrive stamped back box upgraded fuel pump and ecu mod takes it to 305 bhp to check ring subaru and ask for the prodrive performance number as you can ring and give them the chassis number as they keep a record of every car that has it fitted to and will let you know straight away . i have just bought a wrx sti prodrive style 2002 i checked it has not had the ppp kit fitted but it has had the scoobyclinic 320bhp pack fitted spoke to the previouse owner i bought the car off and he still had alll the receipts to prove now have the cracking car by the way .

Oh right! That must be what it is! I assumed all sti's looked the same and took it that the prodrive meant it was the ppp! How dumb!
So is this the twisted skirts and the prodrive spoiler?

Firstly, look under the bonnet at the exhaust downpipe, is it a sports cat? The way to tell is that it will have a fat part of the pipe which will be covered with what looks like a little material 'jacket' (lagging or heat wrap, call it what you like). Very different looking to a standard downpipe.
As for what the dealer told you, rev to 8500 revs??? Is he sure? What a load of rubbish some of these dealers talk. It will rev to 7200, where the red line is on your revcounter, with or without PPP. A JDM (Japanese Domestic Model)will rev to 8000 revs and thats a far better engine that it's UK counterpart.

I thought the Prodrive Style cosmetic pack was only fitted on a bugeye car, but you've got a later blobeye model.
If it doesn't have the Prodrive Performance Pack then someone has misled you.
The sports cat will be the only obvious sign that you have PPP, other than a prodrive certificate.
8500 rpm LOL

Ok thanks! I'll have a look at the dp in a bit!
I looked for the cert when i went to view the car and it was'nt there but the sales woman said it was def the prodrive
It says on all the reciepts Impreza WRX STI Prodrive so im sure i could kick up a fuss if i find out it has'nt had the ppp upgrade

Only Bugeye's came in "prodrive style" as butty said.......The best way is to get the certificate which came with the genuine PPP. The fitting dealer will have records as will prodrive as the PPP was fitted as an item ordered for a specific car (VIN plate).
Doesn't look good so far...AFAIK PPP for the Blobeye was £1600 plus VAT

I know its easy to get much more power for cheaper but its just the fact that it was advertised as a prodrive, and i favoured this car over a one 6 months newer and 7k less miles
On a better note it does feel quite quick for 265bhp lol
