Default Fuel pump?

Has anybody had any problems with their fuel pump on a 97wrx import.

My car wouldn't start this morning, ignition lights are on, there is a spark, but just cranks over for ever.

the pump make a strange noise like a worn bearing and sometimes when the ignition is switched on it doesn't prime at all, is this normal?

I removed one of the pipes from the fuel filter and there was no pressure in there at all, I thought that there would be about fifty bar in there!

can anyone help?

You should here it priming everytime you turn the ignition on. There is quite a few posts on here with people having problems with them.I got a walbro 225 or 255 for about £70 off ebay, easy to fit to.
