97 Type r decat exhaust.
Today i have had my car fitted with decat exhaust, will it need mapping also will it cause any damage to the engine.
No lights have come on,at the moment.Your help is much appreciated.

I personally wouldnt decat an STi without having it remapped or have the facility to have it remapped, they are feckle things are those STI maps and dont like too much change like decats 
So unless you have some visable means of seeing det detection (knocklink etc) and your running the car on super unleaded plus octane booster (still not 100% safe on that either) then I would look at getting the car mapped, supposedly the Simtek ecu is the next big thing and reasonably priced, give that a try
(its also cheaper than a 2.5-3k engine rebuild 
)
