as a rule of thumb, standard gearboxes can cope with 50% increase in power before they bang

my mate has a wrx 2.5 06 reg and his is running 338bhp with all the modifications you have got bar the (sti pink injectors) and a remap goes really well with the vf34 turbo on.

VF34 has a bit better top end than 338 BHP............probably nearer 350. The WRX injectors get maxed out at 320 odd BHP so they must be at 100 % LOL

no, i'm his brother in law. I thought you may have meant loz.

His car goes very very well with the turbo. feels very responsive and makes you smile when you put your foot down no matter where the revs are!

i had a vf34 on my last car(2005wrx),i got 340bhp/340lb/ft on v power and then had it mapped for 10%methanol it got 370bhp/350lb/ft.gearbox was fine at that power but standard clutch didnt last long after about 30 drag launches the vf34 is a great turbo though

What's involved in using the 10% methanol, just a map tweak and dunk some in at each fill up..?

Where and how did you buy it and ultimately mix it..?

Been toying at giving this a go for some time on my usual modded VF35 setup..

yea mate just added 10% methanol and then got andy f to remap.when filling up add the methanol first and then the fuel so it gets a good mix in the tank.i carried a 5l can in the boot and then just added 45l of fuel whenever needed or you can carry lesser amounts if you dont always fill the car up.
i got mine from a mate who has an account with a local chemical co. but a lot of people also use jennychem.
im now on a 60%v power 20% methanol 20% toluene mix but im using a simtek so can run it on v power alone most of the time to save the hassle.

How does methanol keep, just looking at prices and it's not until you buy >100ltr that price starts to get reasonable..? 100ltrs at 10% would last me around 6mths..! That's no good if it's going to deteriorate in storage..!
