Default K&N drop in

My 97 WRX is standard in the intake area and was thinking of only going for a drop in filter. others say to go with a cone filter.

what have others done and found useful?

Hi I have a drop in on my STI . Cant say I felt any difference in performance or any thing like that! But at least you don't have to change it at service time.
I have heard that some cone filters can make the car noise under acceleration but then again some people like that. The thing is they all say that there own filter will make BHP increase but I'm not sure about it! but if you are going to mod. I think its a good idea.

My friend was using a K&N and had all sorts of MAF problems, due to the oiling on the filter I think.

He changed it for a Simota, which he is using dry and has had no other problems. I use a Simota also and think it was a little better than the standard paper one.

Many people on here recommend the Green filter as well. As far as I am concerned, stay away from the oiled ones
