Default Remapping a MY00 UK turbo

Been toying with the idea of modifying my 2000 wagon.

Now I did consider modifying it with exhaust, filter, turbo etc but I have an STI ra to play with..

What i was considering is if it's worth getting someone to remap the stock ecu with ecutek but with no other mods. Or possibly panel filter and downpipe back exhaust (to remove the centre cat)

Anyone had this done to a relatively stock my00? does it make much difference?

Just want to know what I could expect with a remap power'wise or performance increase etc.. any experiences appreciated.

Hi, I had my MY99 mapped by Bob Rawle. It only has a KN panel filter and a Magnex decat middle section and Magnex back box. Bob managed to squeeze 281 bhp and 312 lb/ft out of it and that is with the original up pipe still fitted. I do plan to change the turbo and fit an upgraded fuel pump and a full decat then I am hoping for 320-330. For now though I am very happy and would strongly recommend a remap as the car just drives so much better.

Similar to Skooby53 above; my MY99 UK pulled 239BHP on the rollers at Linden Special Vehicles the other week (with just a cone filter and a Nur Spec exhaust). The guys there reckon getting the engine up to 280BHP with a remap won't be too difficult as things stand now.

Thanks gents.

Tricky one all this.. first I just thought about a remap only to pep it up a bit, then I thought I must at least get a filter and downpipe back. Then I think why not get a sports cat. Then I thought STI turbo, injectors, front mount etc etc

Thing is the ecutek is a lot of money so you almost want to make the most of it.

My other concern is if it'll make my STI RA seem redundant

Hmmmm I agree. However, once you have paid the initial licence fee subsequent mapping will be significantly cheaper. Just a thought........

looking at getting mine done some point in the near future, last time mine was on the RR, it made 269bhp with 2.5" decat center and magnex back box, cone filter and superchip installed, now i have 3" full decat system and it picks up a hell of alot better, but i have now gone over my turbo bhp so looking at new turbo, then fuel pump and remap and hoping for 310 to 320ish
