Timing belt
My car has done 65k miles, imported from Japan.
The mechanic (my uncle, who has no gone back to france) told me the belt needs changing but said dont worry about changing the tensioners, as they can be done the second time around etc.
What does everyone reccomend as i am stressing over whether to now give the car to someone to change the whole kit and fork out £350

Personally I would change the tensioners aswell. Fortunately for me I can do the job so only parts to pay out for. If you put it in perspective, you can either pay someone £350 to do it, or leave it and then pay someone to change your engine for you, which will obviously be a lot more that £350. Its not a guarantee that you engine is safe when its done but prevension is better than cure.

You'll have to see what their like when it's apart. They may be fine,or may not. Did mine at 62000,and they were in good nick,so didn't bother changing them. But if the tensioner's leaking,or the gears are gritty, then change em.
