Default very worrying noise!

i've just done a 180 mile round trip to london and my baby didn't skip a beat! BUT on the last mile of the drive home, i noticed a high pitched squeeling noise coming from (mainly) the left front wheel. i parked up and went inside thinking what it could be i then went out to pick up my ruby from the local curry house. i thought i'd take the car and try to indentify the noise. at first i thought it could be a bearing but it doesn't whine enough. it doesn't happen when i'm going in a straight line but the slighest of movement on the steering wheel and it happens again. it almost sounds like the pads rubbing on the disc but i know it can't be that as like i said earlier, its quite high pitched and not a scratching noise. i thought it could be the C.V joint but however, the squeeling gets faster and slower with the speed of the car. i had to do a 3 point turn in the road on the way back and the noise was hurrendous! the car was creaking like mad when i was moving around. i then started to wonder whether it could be anything to do with the power steering, but then i thought the squeeling wouldn't change withe speed?!i'm absolutely baffled as to what it can be. could it be multiple things at once? i had a second hand propshaft fitted after the garage had problems removing the old one due to the clutch being replaced. could it be something to do with that? any help/info much appreciated.

I had a high pitched sound coming from my wheel.
Turned out to be a stone or something caught in the brake caliper.
Take the wheel off and give the caliper a good wiggle?
