Don't know if anyone can help but........
Removed the outside timing belt covers from my 93 WRX last night and the belt appears very slack, particularly on the upper run of the left side ( looking from front ) - Does anyone know if this is normal ? ( seems very slack but i can only compare it with a Cosworth Sierra as thats the last belt i did ) Does anyone know what the deflection should be ?
Many Thanks

Some slack is normal, at certain points of the rotation.
Check the tensioner mounting bolt holes to see if the tensioner is pushed fully to the LHS.
The tensioners do go 'soft' - Visually check for any oil leakage from the seal, and see how easily it compresses back, when reseting it in the vice.
