A 16G won't make it. An 18G might.

The 18G will probably break your gearbox...Id stick with the VF34, it will out spool the 16g and make about the same power.

Ive got a VF34 on my RA, its being mapped nextweek so ill find out how good they are.

I know of a VF34 on a P1 which recently made 368bhp and 350ft lbs.

sorry to jump on the thread but im looking at the same kind of thing i don't want to spend the kind of money for a td05 20G so what would get you close to 350-380 ?

18g will comfortably do over 350.

I recently mapped a Phase1 with 16g that made 352hp/345ftlb - This was at 1.8 Bar though

BOB- I have a 03 bug eye wrx covered 40 k.
What do I need to try and get 350 bhp out of my car.
Here is my list of components so far:

Andy f td05 16 wrapped.
Decat up pipe
full 3" decat exhaust system
sti intercooler

But he asked for 350 '+' as you point out yourself. I will be very pleased if my 16G on a full-on 2.0 build with every supporting mod makes 350 once it's mapped. To ask for 350+ from a 16G is simply asking too much of a turbo that's not comfortable at that level.

Lots of boost and a good map

If you don't quite make the 350 on the above setup, then you can add a basic Water/Methanol Injection kit, which will allow for a few more degrees of ignition advance, and a leaner mixture. That should get you there

I have a very similar setup to that on an 03WRX. Using an AF 18g made 350bhp quite easily. Andy didn't tune it further than 350 (as measured at Powerstation), at my request, to give the gearbox a chance. That was 20k miles ago. The gearbox is still fine but the crank has gone! The STI engine and gearbox is stronger so can make more of an 18g.

It was very nice to drive though with only slightly noticeable extra lag over stock. One thing to learn from this though, when you start pushing things, start saving for the inevitable

As per PM. Decent tubular headers and NF/meth. Mine made 352bhp on its first RR but then a bit later and a bit more power it made 340bhp elsewhere. Choice of RR is important if target figures are important

Wrighty, don't let my crank failure put you off. It would probably have gone sooner or later whether I'd upgraded or not, it's just one of those things. There are loads of WRXs out there making 350bhp all day long without a problem

BTW, I wouldn't have changed my mind about doing the mod even if I had known it would bend the crank. It's SOOOO much better than standard, and the look on M3 driver's faces is worth it (expecially if you keep the car 'looking' standard )
