the best advice i cant give you is make sure the clips are tight very tight otherwise in one cold night your pipes might come apart and then you will having to put them together in the freezing cold and it will drive you mad so make sure its done properly

This should tell you everything you need to know
You should have gone for one of the HDI hybrid ones available on here they are far superior.

you have to cut quite a lot of the metal behind the bumper away, and then take quite a bit off the bumper also.

what he said mate, get the grinder out. i know the bit you mean the 2 bumper bar bits obstructing the intercooler pipework connecting to the intercooler, you got to grind then off!

Its all worth it in the end. you get a nice fluttering sound when changing gear throught low revs, plus they look awsome

my mate seems to think he asked for a dump valve take off on the pipework should of checked really but was the last thing i thought about to be honest when helping him so looks like another problem did you have to cut the arch skins much for pipework clearance?

i had no unplanned problems fitting my pre 96 autobahn88 fmic,it fits like a glove.
Regards the fog lamps you will have to cut a 90degree section out of the metal mounting plate, cut the lamp adjusters off & shave the back of the lamp casing down & seal it over with a piece of glass fibre & resin then they will fit in nicely & still be water tight. Takes time but the result is worth it in the end...plus diy is better than payin a fortune in bodged garage labour.
I personally dont think theres anything wrong with these kits mine fitted A1 & aint given me any issues, small tip is to roughen the ends of the hard pipes where they slip into the silicone hoses & spray some stickey hairspray on before you slide them together then clamp up tight.

helped a mate fit one few months ago if i remember correctly we had to cut away alot of the inside of the bumper for the pipe work to fit, also i think there is differant pipe work for pre face lift and face lift impreza's, dont quote me on that tho not 100% sure

^^^^yep the pipe work is different if you have the pre 96 kit you dont need to hack the inner wing out or take the wing off. A much better fitting kit. & you have to do lots of bumper trimming around the grill & the fog holes in the bumper require a huge 90degree area chopping out. i found cutting plastic awkward so i removed the bulk with an air hacksaw and did the final shaping with a course rasp & then dressed that with the smoother side of the rasp. Probably one of the best trimmed bumpers ive seen! But then i did bodyshop work for a god few years..

rob73 i think you must of got one from a good batch this one is shocking, the brackets mouted to the intercooler didnt like up with the holes on the car & the right pipe from the throttle body has a bracket on it which theres no way you can fit cause the oil filler is in the way which then makes the makes the pipework angled

Oh crap mate thats not to clever,my top pipe bracket was a tight fit behind the oil filler neck but it didnt cause an issue, just a snug fit!
i DID AVE TO REBEND THE CORE MOUNTING BRACKETS but nothing to major & it cost me £20 to have a dv fitting port tig welded in.

hopefully we'll get it sorted tomorrow with a early start & the weathers abit nicer, did you have to cut much out of the arch skins to make room for the pipes? im not sure how my mates wanting to go about fitting the dump valve i think he thought it would have the take off on the pipe, what would anyone advise for a tempory measure? as i need it off my drive tommorw as its blocking my car in

you can run without a dv,although some cringe at the thought the TD turbos are robust enough the take the hammering of stalling(cha cha cha)
i didnt have to cut any body panels, cut or drill any holes. the only cutting i needed to do was the front bumper.

sorry bud i misread ur post.yep the plastic inner arches had to be trimmed a little but it aint hard just take a rough measurement then offer them back up & keep trimming untill you have a good fit, which bye the way is what youll have to do with the bumper, just keep trimming & checking untill your happy with the fit. takes time!!

no prob, just be patient think about what your doing & what youve got to do next, take your time, dont loose your temper & stamp all over the ****in ******* bumper, the ****in thing! it takes longer to trim that than anyother part of the installation. Easy dude.

would of been nice mate, we still couldnt sort it we grinded the bumper brackets down as in the pictures above, but wouldnt clear the top of the intercooler was still well out, i dont like to bodge things but we ended up fitting it back together without the bumper bar just to get it back to my mates, hes working away for a few weeks so its not needed & hes going to worry about it when hes back & go & see the company he brought it from see what they say, its put me right off getting one myself, if i did think id pay the expert gotta be worth the money

where you trying to fit the bumper bar after you had installed the intercooler pipes???
i think i cut & fitted the bumper bar & then connected the hard pipes otherwise the bar wouldnt clear the pipes on its way back in.
