Default Advice on buying first Subaru?

Hello everyone, just joined up, looks like a great forum.

Sorry it's probably been covered a million times before. I'm about to maybe swap my current car (e30 BMW 325i sport) for a 1999 2.0 sport impreza with 99,000 miles on clock and FSSH up until 60K after that oil changes every 7K I think? 1 lady owner and in P1 blue, HPI clear. I've dealt with turbo cars (200sx s13's) and I'm a bike mechanic for a living (BMW) but other than the normal things you look for on any car, rust, worn discs pads, smoking, weird engine noises rattles. Is there anything in particular I need to look for on a scubaru? Anything that should be done at certain mileage? Other than cambelts?

Thanks
Marc

Firstly, can you afford to run a turbo (UK Turbo 2000 will be cheaper to insure than a JDM WRX)?! If so get one!

Many people who have a 2.0 Sport (or a 1.6 GL) often come onto this forum to ask about turbo engine transplants ... As they get bored with the (lack of) power.

I suggest to go away, take a deep breath, and pour over your finances and do the sums before going for a Sport. If you can extend to a good turbo, you'll love it!!!

And, unless you're unfortunate to get a lemon, then they're relaible (service it on the dot, etc..)... BUT... the modding bug will no doubt bite and be hard to shake off .

If you can't afford to insure a turbo, get the Sport and check out the web-site (sorry don't know the exact title) for help, and enjoy.

We can be a bit snobby about them on here, sadly !
