Default smell of petrol

Hi my car smells of petrol while driving and when i lift the bonnet i have noticed in the past week or to diff to start but not all the time once started engine sounds fine but still smells of petrol cant see any leaks please help cheers dan

I had the same, twice, both in cold weather, and both short journeys. I took the car to the garage both times, and there was no leak present. Other people have experienced the same as far as I remember. I did a quick search for you but couldnt find anything.

Alright mate my mate has a bugeye and his has just started doin the same thing we had a look yesterday couldn't see anything but after a 10-15min drive the smell had gone, but he said it came back again when he went out in the car later on in evening.

If we find anything we'll let you know maybe the same problem

i had strong petrol smell on my 94 wrx wagon it turned out to be leaking rubber fuel pipe drivers side an a failed jubilie clip which only leaked under pressure was fiddlely to access to repair done now an smells gone

hi guys ive been having the same problem (smell of petrol when its cold outside)when the engine is warm no smell. looked this up a few mounths ago and was told that its the fuel rail that goes under the inlet manifold for some reason the rail is seperated by a ruber pipe with 2 clips which fasten the rubber pipe to the metal fuel rail these need tightening because the metal fuel rail contracts when cold ,was advised to remove the ruber pipes and fit braided fuel pipes.inlet manifold needs to be removed to sort problem hope this helps
