Which Timing/Cam Belt?
I need to order a new Cam belt for the service. Which is a good one to go for? My mate mentioned a HKS one?
Cheers
Edit: For a 2003 STI

For a standard one I use either Gates or Dayco - Both are fine
If you want an 'upgraded' one i would recommend a Power Enterprise Kevlar belt - Speak to Mark at Lateral Performance, as he keeps these in stock.

EJ20 is the base engine type for ALL 2.0 Imprezas:- 8 valve, 16 valve single cam, and 16 valve twin cam, and 16 valve siamese cam [ 99 on ] and all turbos.
ALL cam belts are made by Gates, which is a subsidiary of Good Year [ or at least it was, 'til the business world fell apart this year ]
Just ask anyone on here for a turbo cam belt, you'll get the right one. £48.00 + post + VAT from me.
Kevlar is OK if you need one, but being as strong as it is, I would not recommend it on road car that does lots of miles, as they tend to wear away the gear teeth on the cam pulleys [ especially so the plastic ones ] and come next cam belt change, you'll need new gears too.
Rubber is fine.
