Default Ring land on forged piston...

Gutted. Just had to write it down (type it anyway).

MY07 WRX running 20g and supporting mods.

8000 miles, ring lands go on cast pistons. Shame, but knew it'd happen eventually.

12500 miles, ring land goes on one of the new mahle forged pistons. Number 4. Absolutely sick as a chip.

What do I do next? Engine is in bits. £250 more to buy a set of new pistons (have already paid for the rings).

You have to get to the root cause of the ring land failure - normally down to
excessive combustion chamber pressure/over ignition advance/detonation etc etc.

Echo the above you need to confirm why it's happend twice. Was this on the same cylinder, any photos of the pistons ?
