Default Is my engine scrap?

Hi guys after a bit of advice. I have got a 99 wrx, I have just replaced the turbo because i thought the seals had gone. But on removing the old turbo the blades on the inlet had chunks missing im guessing these have gone through the engine. I have replaced the turbo the car seems to run fine but smokes heavily at low revs, no smoke at idle or on boost. Any one had similar problems?

What colours the smoke? If the seals were gone, then you would still have oil in the exhaust system, which would cause black smoke.
But obviously a shard ion the engine would be worse. Best to open her up mate.

99.9% sure mate if your blades have failed u will have bit's in your engine you got a magnetic sump plug ? try taing the oil filter off se if there is any bit's in there or as allready said mate time for a strip down.

You should look in the hot side of te intercooler first, I reckon it would take some doing for it to get thru that tho?

not convinced that when a turbo blade split's brakes etc etc particals at say 1.0 bar are forced thru every nook and crany , ill happily bet money on the fact he will have metal in his engine and bearings/crank showing evidence .put it this way ask any company on hear if they had a turbo go what they would do 100% they would all say strip down and inspect .

just to add if you have been running it with metal floating around ur oil you will score your bores need a full rebuild so kiss at least 1k goodbye or a second hand engine it is .i expect thats why its still smoking oil passing thru the piston rings due to the scoring .

A mates P1 had two blades missing, no ill effects at all

He had other issues and we had to strip the motor, no blade contamination found.
