Should i or shouldnt i ....
Well got all the bits to do my second oil change on my rebuilt engine . should i do as i did and dissconnect this ,,dissconnect that , say grace , remove spark plugs etc etc .(which i must say took me ages) , or should i just prefill oil filter fully before installing it and not worry about dissconnecting things ...cheers

prefill the filter then just unplug the wires off the coils or disconnect the wire fron the central mounted coil witchever you have, its not worth removing plugs your oil presure will be up in about 4/5 seconds,

call me old fashioned....lol
but I'm a fan of the easy, drop old oil, fill filter, add new oil.
same as you would in any engine.
(these engines aren't that delicate)
the choice is ultimately yours though...

TBH thats what i do myself an engine is just an engine,if its run up to warm the oil befour the oil is dropped from the engine as it should be, When the new oils put in and started it wont be dry and no damage will occur, I do try to fill the filter as its dead easy on these engines,
Problem is if you tell someone thats ok and for some reason it goes wrong who will they blame??

In my experience and having owned my MY99 for 7 years. I warm up the engine then drain out the oil, pre fill the filter at fit. Then I put in what's remaining of the 4 ltrs after filling the filter. I never chuck 4.5 ltrs straight in as, in my experience, this will result in over filling. Obviously there is still oil in the engine and this needs to be taken into account when refilling. Top up to just below the cold oil mark on the dip stick. Then just start up, a brief gentle drive, check for leaks, job done.
