what have you got at the moment?
if you're fitting a TMIC I presuming you either have a front mounted intercooler which is generally an upgrade from a top mount, or you dont have an intercooler, which means you wont have a turbo which means its pointless as far as I know.
Someone please correct me if I am mistaken .....

Bu##er me that looks sweet and it would be nice to do the same, however I don't really want to spend to much time and money on a top mount cause its having a front mount soon-ish......I just think my steel one looks worse than Steptoes scrap cart....

The results of this trial are useful when researching TMIC's

Whilst looking I came across lots of stuff on intercoolers but this is probably of most use to what you may want to try.
It's for a 95 with the twisted original one being replaced with a STi5 one.

It was much easier putting a bigger one on my 2003 WRX.

Tim, how does the MAF sensor cope with having the induction kit fitted. I normally run a GEMS which uses a MAP sensor so is okay with a K&N fitted to the intake pipe but when theOE ECU and MAF sensor is refitted and the filter bolted on the engine is eratic and stalls. The readings from the OE ECU (being set up for MOT time) the lambda sensing is way out, so it would not pass the MOT even on the standard ECU.
Thanks steve

Fitting an STi 5 or 6 TMIC in place of the 93-96 slanted TMIC is a lot harder to do than it looks from initial inspection. Fitting an STi 8 to a 93-96 is also not easy.
Do a search. It has been covered regularly.
Fitting an FMIC of proven ability and quality is far easier and probably more cost effective than a secondhand TMIC.

Not to mention a far safer running engine due to significantly reduced intake temps across the board... especially with regard to heatsoak after being on boost for a while and then coming to a standstll e.g. at traffic lights...

I,m with you on this, but is one really worth fitting fpr 300-350bhp?? surely a new age STI 8 cooler etc will be ok??

staffi, AFAIK the STi8 TMIC is easily good for those figure, even upto 400bhp (I think
).
But as we both agree, the MAIN concern is not the numbers, but safety. If you go hooning with 350+ with the top mount in, say, summer, and have to stop at traffic lights for any length of time... then sorry, but no traffic light grand prix for you - unless you want to det your engine to oblivion! TMICs are okay, but in situations like the above, then you always have to be on the ball thinking about intake temps....
If you had the FMIC, then you won't even have to give your intake temps. a second thought.
Will you take her on the track? If so, then I'd defo go for a FMIC (only my personal opinion of course).
