Speedo stopped working, but no CEL and no rev limiter
My speedo stopped working the other day (MY93 WRX).
API fitted a 1.6 stepdown gearbox in the cable line a few years back, after the original item broke. However, when that happened, I'm sure the CEL lit, and I certainly had a 4.5k rev limit - this time the engine still revs past 5k rpm
I've checked the cable and everything seems to be connected. Does this suggest that my speedo dial has broken (rather than the cable) or is my ECU just being a bit slow to recognise the problem?
I don't really fancy changing my instrument panel!

If the you think the CEL lit then check the codes (Scoobypedia | Trusted knowledge for everything Subaru | Scoobypedia / Scoobypedia under the 'ECU' heading).
May be worth checking the cable again as i had this when i changed my instrument panel and found the cable had snapped from the back of the speedo head to the converter.
Changing the instrument panel is a very easy.
