i want to remove one of the spark plugs on my 93 wrx to check its condition.

can someone tell me the correct size socket to buy/use?
or is there a good tool that i can buy for the job? (limited access is a pig) I have removed the battery to get access.


is it best to remove the plugs when the engine is stone cold or should i warm it up a bit first.
