Default Funny Idle?

Think my Maf is knackered again! only been on the car 2 months ish.

My idle used to sit under 1 but idle smooth not it sits on 1 but idle's rough but it drive's better than it used to, yesterday car drove crap like it had a missfire, haven't booted the car coz i know the engine will go bang eventually if i do.

I have a 1999 WRX and i know the Maf's break easily didn't think it would be this easy, am i looking for something that's caused the damaged to the Maf i.e. Housing cracked or split pipe?

Cheers.

Try this have done it on other cars before, take the MAF off completely get brake cleaner spray and spray the sensor element itself, let it dry out (few mins) then spray it again - Let it dry out and stick it back on.

You wont find any physical damage on the MAF its probably dirty, oiled filters from its previous or current life, I think you should really use a dry filter on these but everyone has different opinions.

This should be done with any suspected MAF before buying a new one, make sure you do not touch the element or disturb it in any way. Has worked for me on other cars no problem. Let us know how you get on so it may help others searching....Good luck
