Default Quick Oil Question..

Will 5w30 be okay in my 2005 WRX, I had an oil change the other day and they used 5w30, just wanted to check it would be okay?

i would of thought 10w40 minimum. but could be wrong as 5w is very thin stuff.

i spoke to roger clark they told me to run 15w50 in my 97wrx.

i would say that oils not right but sure someone will correct me if im wrong.

phone subaru garage or tuning company.

here we go again.... does it not say in the operator manual? thats what its there for. your gonna get a whole host of different opinions on here mate

Its not the 5 that makes it thin, its the 30, the thicker the oil, the higher the second number, ie 5w40 is thicker than a 5w30, but a 10w40 is no thicker than a 5w40, just that the 5w40 heats up quicker.

The manual on a 05 wrx states that 5w30 is ok for the engine, its a good read, lots of useful info in there
