PM harvey. He'll give you the complete downlow, as he supplies and fits these all day long.

just a side question sorry to hijack the thread

but how do the sti-8 intercoolers/hyperflow top mounts perform on a classic sti with standard bonnet scoop? any better than standard?

is a sti-8 bonnet scoop a neccessity with these? and also what power are they capable for?

cheers

Don,t quote me on this, but i think the STI top mounts on a classic are good for 400 odd bhp...

hybrid as in the first post

top mounts are good for quite a bit of bhp, well into the high 300's iirc but will always suffer heat soak at the top of the engine

Back to the Hybrid!
I dismantled the front yesterday and took the V8 TMIC out of my V6 classic, then placed the pipework in the enginebay and it was near impossible to shut the hood, because the pipe coming from the throttle fooled somewhere.
Due to not fastening the pipework I was able to push the hood down, but when there are all clamps and siliconejoiners on, I doubt it is possible...
Had anybody the same problem?

Can I mount the bumper with the 2 bolts downlow in the front again or do they come off due to the knifeedging and bending of the metal (it seems as I have to bend the mountingpoints backwards to route the pipework to the FMIC)...

Help please, I want to know the problems at first before I go on and install all back to place.

It sounds like you have an installation issue as your kit is a direct fitment on to your car. Look at the pipe coming out of the intercooler on the battery side running up the timing chest. It may be necessary to trim back some of the fan cowling to allow this pipe to take the best possible route up the front of the timing chest. There should be no problem whatsoever with the pipe route from the throttle body down the side of the washer bottle and battery unless you have non standard parts fitted.

Hi Harvey, thanks for the information the hood closed without any problem, had to change the undertray from STI V8 to my old one without a the lip around.
I sent you an email regarding bumper fitment!
The Hybrid FMIC reduced my lag that´s great and the myth about big lag with FMIC is bulls**it!
Additional I have to say, that I did not altere any settings on my Power FC yet and running too rich downlow for security reasons!!!

Hi Markus : I will look at my emails shortly. The design of the core has a lot to do with the induced lag. A bar and plate core will invariably have more lag than a tube and fin like you have and some tube and fin cores are of poor design and therefore have a larger pressure drop. It is also important that the pipework is of the correct diameter and there are no sharp edges or bends.

Hi Harvey, thanks so far for your answers - waiting for your answer back to my email!

I had to see that the revs stay at about 1800rpm and drop after some seconds to the idlerev, that´s quite funny... but maybe I have to reset the Power FC (initialize it) and let it learn the idle again...
Did anybody have the same "problem"?

Markus, all e-mail were/are answered along with over a dozen photographs, I don't know, I lost count. If this is the first time you have tried to fit an FMIC I appreciate it will take longer but we fit these every week without coming across the problems you have. There is no response from others with the same problems so please look at the pointers I have already e-mailed to you.

The only real problem is the high rev and I will reset the Power FC today, so hopefully this will solve the problem!
Thanks for all the answers and pic, Harvey! Perfect service!!!

Good. One of the causes of high revs on tick over can be an air pipe off on the inlet tract or leading to the inlet tract. Also a vacuum pipe off the inlet manifold or leading from the inlet manifold.

I will doublecheck all hoses, but I´m pretty sure I secured all perfectly!
