Yes definately. You can't be too safe when it comes to engine preservation on track. you need AT LEAST a baffled or trapdoor sump, but a larger capacity baffled sump would be preffered. Even with baffles, a normal capacity sump can suffer from surge with the cornering forces that modern slicks can generate.

The cost of a good sump/oil pickup/oil pump setup is nothing when compared to a full engine rebuild.

You can even add an oil accumulator that will not only pre-oil the engine on startup, but can discharge oil at a set psi when it senses an oil pressure drop to safeguard the engine should you get oil starvation/oil pump failure etc.

Accusump is probably the most well known oil accumulator, and i have used them myself on previous cars. they work well, are reasonably cheap (£300) and basically do what they say on the tin. Well worth doing if your car is tracked. The pre-oiling is almost worth it alone!!
