Default Loose steering rack!? ARGHHHH

I've got yet another problem that has developed with the scoob. Im beginning to think it hates me!

When driving it feels as if the steering is knocking. I can only feel it through the clutch and when cornering at any speed or doing the tyre warming swerve F1 style. Its only slight but Im real worried now. Any suggestions? Anyone had this before? Things to look for?

Thanks people

okay - I've been under the car this morning and the mounting bushes seem fine. There is a small amount of fluid on the rack where the column meets it, and with both wheels in the air there feels like there is no resistance at first, then they get stiffer. Sat in the car with it running and steering it feels fine - no knock at all. Could it just be where the rack is leaking and it knocks under load?? Ive checked all gearbox/engine mounts but its all tight. Its really worrying me now as I think it pulls when I brake hard...
