Well after a little bit of investigation into a irritating rattling noise it looks like the problem is coming from a broken heatshield on my 2003 sti,
Has anybody else had this problem? it seems to be resting on the knuckle at the bottom of the steering rack
Am i right in thinking the heatsheild could just be broken off or will the whole uppipe need replacing? and if so is it beneficial to get something like a hayward and scott decat uppipe?
My local garage owe me a couple of hours labour so the only cost would be the uppipe.
Any advice is greatly appreciated as always

imho unless you are chasing silly horsepower a bit of action with a saw will rid you of the rattle.... avoid any up-pipe with a flexy section as they don't last.

thanks for the speedy reply dunx, i am sure i read somewhere that the decat uppipe will help the turbo spool up earlier in the revs? i guess it would not add too much bhp but might give a better overall feeling and response, i was just wandering if anybody had done such a modification? otherwise i think i will go the way you suggest and just cut the damn thing off
