Limp mode?? Normally cuts at about 4000rpm

Maybe an air lock on the steam front. Where is the steam coming from?

if it wont go over 4000 rpm .sounds like its in limp mode .is there a engine check light on .

does it only pour steam out under load .not when the bonnets open so ya could trace it that way .and wet marks any ware to help ya get closer

what petrol ya running it on .

limp mode is there to protect your engine (4k and 0.5bar boost) so DON'T try and go over it.
Scoobypedia | Trusted knowledge for everything Subaru | Scoobypedia / Scoobypedia shows how you can manually check for error codes (doesn't matter if the CEL isn't on just check it)

Where EXACTLY does the steam/water come as you have the rad (obviously) all the associated pipework ,the header tank is there (the early ones tend to split).
