With a Manual Boost Controller plumbed in between the compressor nozzle (or inlet manifold if no nipple on the comp nozzle) and the wastegate actuator. You then screw the MBC in (or out?) by a very small amount. The upshot of this is that the WG 'sees' a higher boost figure than std before opening, therefore giving the engine more boost, therfore upping the bhp/torque.
Typically, an increase of 0.2bar (3psi) is acceptable. You have to be careful you don't adjust it too much or you'll overboost and can do serious harm to the motor... Advisable to get it it adjusted on a rolling road so A/F ratios can be monitored, etc...
