Get a purely mechanical one (rather the an electro-mechanical one) - more immediate and probably more accurate. Don't regard it as a scientifically accurate device though, but more of a 'safety' indicator, so you'll know if the motor's significantly overboosting (or underboosting). The PSI ones' scale offers 45% greater resoultion than the BAR ones - but it depends which you prefer. Also, the gauages come in two DIN sizes: 52mm or 60mm diameters (important to know when choosing a suitable mounting pod/bracket).

You simply site it in the car somewhere easy to read e.g. near or at base of A-pillar (you can get a multitude of various mounting brackets, pods etc).

The back of the gauge has an inlet for narrow vac hose. Run a long length from the connection, through bulkhead, and plumb the other end onto a spare nipple on inlet manifold. If no nipple availabe, then T-piece it into the vac line for the BOV/DV.

If it has onboard illumination, then splice the wiring into the Impreza's lighting circuit (means the illumination will turn off when the keys are out).
