if your going to do smething do it properly you know your going to drive your car hard speak to some of the tuners on here and see what they can offer you.
theres no point putting another block and in a few months will go bang again.do you know why you lost your engine?was it fuelling, oil etc?

i fitted a walbro fuel pump then went for a burn the car started spluttering then the engine managment came on , i got home and phoned a few friends, i was told i was starving o fuel due to using the walbro filter , so i changed it back to the standard filter on the walbro pump and took the battery off, then left if for 10mins,. conected the battery back up and managment light was off. took the car out l8tr that night and had a bit of fun. when i got home it was knocking a little bit. the next day it started knocking realy loud. any idea what caused it?

So what is safe power for standard bottom end then? What is the best way to look after the bottom end so it will hopefully last longer? I was considering bolting a TD05 turbo with a z4 ecu on my ej20g wagon, as i heard it all goes straight on. The breakers told me i shouldn't need to get it set up afterwards, but it sounds risky, especially after reading this thread

know how gutted you must be as i lost my engine on my version 3 sti due to oil pump failure early on this year. give awesome imports a ring in avonmouth bristol,01179 821267. they break scoobys aswell as sell them and always been very good with me,

For £1500 mate you've got better options than a stock recon bottom end (unless that's uprated).
You can get a 2.5 bottom end for that & check trader announcements as Alan Jeffrey's just started a deal on 2.1 stroked bottom ends.
Scoobystanway - TD05 & Z4 will work fine for your wagon if fitted at same time. All boils down to whether the engine is in good condition & is serviced regularly before you do it. A lot of people suspect the stock oil pump is susceptible to failing due to pressure relief valve sticking (i.e: if it's due a cambelt change then consider having water pump and uprated oil pump renewed at same time as they're behind the timing belt - 3 jobs done for a bit more than the price of 1!).

Alan Jefferys do a 2.1 for £1700 inc vat. Bullit proof for future mods so dont take a risk, you could be lucky and a second hand motor could go on for ever, but it could also be a hound and go bang after a month! If that happens £1700 is even cheaper!!!

think of a car like a human body if some one woke you in a middle of the night and asked to you to run around the block a few times you will end up with a stitch and cramps. but if you woke up had a light breaky streched and warmed up nicely then you would be fine.
its funny but the same principles apply on cars, if your using the right oils only putting your foot down when its on the right oil temp using the correct fuel and your cars fueling has been adjusted to suit your mods. then your ok

oh and forget going recon you will end up paying more in a long run, even if you do get a warranty eventualy you will get bored with that power and would want more so you will end up forking out more in a long run if your going to do something do it properly
i hope that helps

wrx are also reliable the thing with subarus is you got to understand its a 2liter engine that takes a lot of abuse through its life time thats wjy its good to take extra care for peace of mind. oil changes NEVER RIP IT WHEN COLD AND IM NOT TALKING ABOUT WATER TEMPS IM TALKING ABOUT OIL temps and you should be fine. i hope that helps and best of luck for finding a suitable suoltion
