Default New Key - £150! - Is this right?

Is there no alternative to paying £150 for a new ignition key for a 03 bugeye? Seems a bit steep...

IF you still have a key, I mean providing you are not getting another cos you have lost it, then its less than 50 quid at even the most expensive key cutters.

And key fob programming is FREE, if you search this site.

Thanks for all the comments. It's the ignition key not the sigma fob, which I beleive is not possible to program yourself. My understanding is that the origanal key imobiliser is still operational despite having a sigma fitted. Is this the case with a Subaru approved Sigma system? If not I could just get a regular mechanical key cut for a few quid....

Hi all,
Was wondering what the code for 2006 sti would be, I have a key but not a spare, I want to get another one, I have the pin code etc, but in the link above it says that those codes are only for the older wrx's.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks.
Matt.

i used to cut car keys with immob chips, some cars was straight forward and could be done for £30 programmed, other was a main dealer only as only they could program the chip for the immob.

go into timpsons and see if they can do it, it'll take 2 secs for the machine to say whether it can be duplicated or main dealer only i used to work there for a few years but never done a scooby key in all fairness its prob a main dealer jobby but worth a try

keys with the single button can be programmed to make the alarm work by yourself but all keys also have a transponder chip built in to them and it is this that needs programming by the dealer
