Default gearbox out uprated clutch an flywheel

right iv got a 1992 wrx import , a few days ago my gearbox died so the box will be comming out in the next couple of days . so my question is do i put an uprated clutch ect in and maybe lightweight flywheel of sum sort ,the clutch isnt slipping yet but dont wanna have to take the box back out in another few months .the engine is not standard so am i best upgrading now

the engine had a full rebuild just over 10k ago before i bought it recipt for 3500 quid also

uprated fuel pump
fuel pressure reg with gauge
full japspeed exhust with s/s headers
uprated ngk plugs
induction kit
pnp chip in ecu
adjustable boost with gauge

not had it on the rollers but im sure i must be up to 280 bhp at 1.1 bar

so any advice would be helpfull , i havnt got the money for a new 6 speed box ect so that is not an option , looking more at the clutch and flywheel side of things and also any advice on if a standard gearbox will be ok with the upgradeds iv got now
thanks

if you can afford it now i would recommend doing both while the gearbox is off as you will only end up paying to get it done later.

i would nt do a paddle clutch as i believe there comfortable for everyday traffic just go with fast road organic but dont go to light on the flywheel as you can have idleing issues

Don't do the paddle clutch, their mare to drive with! Your not in the power band where you need something like that. A normal organic Exedy would be fine.

thanks its not my every day car so a paddle is not a problem as i had a saxo vts track car before with a paddle and u get used to it . but the lightweight flywheel is worth remembering dont need no problems with it not ideling

That clutch is a standard replacement, you need a pink box exedy really for that power like this:

Gearbox life's all about luck, i killed 2 with 300bhp on my last scoob, yet with 330bhp on my RA, it's been fine. But the ratios are different on the RA, if that makes any difference. I'd imagine you'll be fine. The alternative's a £2000 six speed, or £3000 PPG!

The alternative's a £2000 six speed, or £3000 PPG! that is not an option mate ha ha

i take it the ra box is a closser ratio box or is it the rear diff ratio that is different

Both the box and diff are different, accelerations mental with it! But, 80 is about 4500-5000rpm!

I think, if anything the lower ratio box is stronger, so should last better, but im not sure!
What sort of power you aiming for? Im quite worried about mine, im visiting Api in january and will have around the 360bhp mark!

td05 turbo

at the moment im happy with the way it goes on high boost 1.1 bar
and was more on changing the handaling and brakes as im in the way of thinking that u dont need loads of power to have a fast car unless ur drag racing it 1/4 mile sprint ect and iv been there and done that last 4 years in my saxo 0-60 in 5.9 sec no turbo no nos

Brakes were the first thing i did, i had the rubbish 2 pots, and fitted the 4 pots.
I've fitted front/rear whiteline ARB's, with alloy drop links, made a huge difference! Best £300 spent on the car!
You'll be knocking a second off the saxo times with your power, it's addictive, you'll want more before long!

iv got 4 pots to go on and fitted rear alloy drop links also like u say front and rear arb . power is allways addictive,i started off with standard saxo vts 120bhp sold it with 160bhp caged and full grp n suspension , so this time my idea is to sort the suspension and brakes out stick with 300bhp at the most its on lowered eibach spring so thats a start

There does seem to be a lot of people who want loads of power, without doing the important things first.
I remember the pic you put up of the saxo now, nice car!

thanks i have learned alot from doing track days the basic thing any track instructer will tell u is the only point of a straight is to get to the next corner ,the faster u can take that corner the more speed u have going on to the next straight and so on . this is on a track before every body shoots me down for speeding but u get the idea mate
