in the process of getting my engine out and at the point of unbolting the downpipe from the turbo - go to unbolt the middle section from it and what do i find.......
the whole bloody exhaust is welded up in one piece..... so now ill have to cut it off and buy a new exhaust (might aswell get stainless headers too )
why is nothing ever easy?

doubt i could get the whole car up high enough, dont really want to buy a new exhaust as its going to be a donor car for a murtaya build but my plan was to rebuild the bottom end/new 2.5 one and get her back on the road for a while - the other option would be to just break the car now

ok i understand now, no not taking the gearbox out yet, turbo has one more bolt that looks a pig to remove, the only other thing that looks intersting is spliting the engine and box, the guide i have says you need to thread a 6mm bolt in somewhere (maybe something to do with the clutch arm?)

yeh, once you have the starter removed, there is an allen headed bolt visible, remove that, and behind it is the clutch arm pivot, you need to find a bolt to thread into that, and pull it out, then, you need to jiggle the clutch arm, which you can do by holding onto it where the slave cylinder pushes it..... then, once you've got it all unbolted, it'll be a swine to get them apart, you may need to wedge bars and screwdrivers etc into the joint, make sure to do it squarely..... it might take quite a while to get it apart, mine took about a day the first time, and it was only 5 yrs old at the time...!!!

the find a bolt bit (wont one i have taken off so far work, if not what size i think ive seen its M6 but how long) also you say thread it in then pull it out, what do i oull out the bolt i have just threaded in or the arm itself?

i just find any old bolt that will go in enough to pull the arm out, when you get to do it, it'll become clear..... esp once you've got the box out and can have a proper look....

thread the bolt in, and then pull the entire arm out...... it's about an inch or so in diameter, and about 150mm long..... it might be a bit tight if it's not been out before.... and when you come to putting it back, there's a big slot in the other end that has to be located to get it right... all will become obvious when it's out....

engine all ready to come out tomorrow (if the clutch thing has released properly) having the downpipe/cat still there made getting the gearbox/engine bolt out a real PITA, anyway hoist (new one) all built up so should be out in an hour or so tomorrow (engine and box seperated by about 10mm so i know that wont be a problem splitting it)

the pivot not the fork
you remove the 10mm allen bolt and then put a bolt into the hole and into the thread on the end of the pivot.. the cambelt cover bolts are the right size.. then pull the pivo out whilst wiggling the fork.
