Default EngineMalfunction light

Hi does anyone one have an explanation? or has had the same prob?
I had my 56 plate wrx in for a turbo back miltek system (no cat) an ecutek remap and panel filter, other than that the car is standard, since i have had it back the engine malfunction light keeps coming on it can stay on for a couple of days then go out for a couple but it keeps returning. Just wondered if anyone has experienced this or would know the reason for this happening. any feed back would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Most like the "Gas sensor" fitted near where your old CAT was.

IIRC (but not 100% certain) the Check engine light in these circumstance can be reset by turning Ignition on and off 3 times.

Your Car has been Remapped,

1) could be faulty
2) Your using UL fuel when mapped on SUL Fuel

Sometimes (after CAT removal) resisters boxes are fitted to frig the signal.

1) could be broken
2) disconnected

hope this helps

Tony

If it's a missing cat CEL ,which is P0420, then it does not go out after several goes of the ignition.

This CEL needs clearing from the ECU but it's an unlikely CEL as any mapper worth his salt will simply map out the missing CAT CEL never to be seen again.

My advice would be to get the historic codes read from the ECU and take it from there
