Down pipe cat rattle
MY heatshield rattles on the downpipe cat.
Is there a common way to stop it? Or should I just take it off?
If so how does it come off because it looks like it is crimped on some how.
Will the cat need heat wrapping?
Thanks

you can try to weld that metal shield a bit, but actually it seems to be pretty common.
especially on older cars.
I think, you can also simply take it off.
No real need to wrap it, I think, but you can do that if you like.

I don't really think so.
Aftermarket downpipes have no heatshields and I haven't heard about any issues.
You can wrap it if you like to keep the warm on the pipe, what should be good for gases flow, but that's all I think

To be honest mate same happened to me when i first got my impreza! Had to cut the heat sheild off! It should make much difference on or off, that cover is more for things going under the car so don't stick to exhaust. Plus in the event of failure Cats get REALLY hot and i have seen in some case melt the underneath of the veh!
So you can wrap it if you want but to be safe you should really!
