how much power can the standard gearbox on my95 wrx take beote it gives up and spits it's guts on the road?
I'm looking to get as much power out of the wee baby before having to spend fortunes on a new box when I could just get an sti
Mods at the mo are
255 walbro
Full stainless 3" turbo back no cat and heat wrapped
Updated panel filter
Polarperformance chip
Densi iridium plugs
I'm looking at getting a fmic soon aswell as possibly a few other things

early sti boxes arent that much stronger than wrx.
later ty754 sti boxes seem to hold up better.
However, its impossible to say when it will give up.
how do you drive is a major factor, heavy right foot stamping on the loud pedal is a surefire killer.

some can handle more then others but usually anything over 300ish tends to shorten the life of them

depends if you rag it all over all the time. i had a 95 wrx and sumthing went wrong with the gearbox. sounded like the whine u get in reverse when i let it overrun in first gear. probably a bearing or sumat. but first scooby and it was cheap so i was abit over harsh with it lol. treat my current scooby with restecpa because i know what it can do so not really much point raggin it lol

I killed two in my last scoob, with 300/300. My RA now has 330/300 ish, and not had any problems yet. It's all about luck. Im waiting for mine to go, then i can justify the 6 speed to the girlfriend!
They are cheap at the mo, there under £1500 now, but i spose thats not far off the value of the car!

320ft/lbs in 07 wrx, no probs. some say that hard launching WITH uprated clutch is gearbox killer as theres much more slip on a standard clutch and hence kinder to gearbox.

I had a uk box in mine and did well over a 100 full bore launches up the drag strip with 330/330 and it never missed a beat. I changed to a 2.5 with big turbo but tuned down to 390/400 while I saved up ppg gearbox but a couldnt resist a play with a porsche
and I mullered 3rd gear
but now ive got ppg and its awesome and takes loads of pain but not cheap, had to really sweet talk the wife lol.
