AFTERMARKET LOW OIL PRESSURE WARNING INDICATOR ???
Anyone bought and fitted one of these? If so, has anybody managed to 'save' their motor from noticing its flashing warning etc.?

the ideal is a light that will illumiate at a preset pressure eg 20psi if the minimum required before engine damage was 20 psi. most pressure switches only allow the light to illuminate when there is no oil pressure which means it is the light of death!
if that light comes on when youre doing 80mph in the 3rd lane by the time you have pulled over to the hardshoulder the engine will be finished!

Cannot see ebay at work so cannot see the specifics.
However, I guess it flashes a light when oil pressure drops to a set level?
The car does that anyways at half a bar pressure.

it uses the cars existing oil pressure switch so is pointless as it will only come on the same time as the existing light which is often to late anyway.
A switch rated to come on at around 20 psi is the answer the o/e one on most cars switch at around 4 psi Years ago when i was into racing mini's we used to fit a switch that did exactly that. Brought thr light on at a much higher pressure. Although i do recall after they had had a good caining the light flickered at idle til the oil cooled. That was probably the oil though as no synthetic was used. It was castrol R in those days. I do miss the smell of that stuff. lol

This would make more sense IMHO. At least if it came on between circa 1 and 2 bar, then there is just a chance that one could indeed save the engine, albeit a slim one.
