Default Vortex Generator - Impreza

I have a 2001 Bugeye 1.6 Impreza - it's my commuting car - only use it for getting to work and home again.

As you will all no doubt already know - it couldn't pull the skin off a good plate of porridge !

What can I do to get a bit more power - CHEAPLY ?

I was thinking about an Air Vortex Generator ???????

Are these any good?
How do I fit it?

Thanks for any help.

getting power out of a none turbo is a waste of money and time, you can get some gains, but the cost is astronomical.

cheapest option is to buy a turbo'd car.

as far as the vortex generator goes, the scientific theory behind it is sound, it is just that theory doesn't work in the real world.

The theory behind vortex generators is not sound, intake motion has to be created in the ports not pre throttle to have any effect.

Snake oil and a waste of time and money.

Seriously mate, my comment wasn't meant to have come across as being aggressive/disrespectful ... More, both me and the other poster couldn't believe that you would have thought a VG would make significant difference... and that it was the first thing you thought of regarding tuning for a car. (I assume by VG you mean something like this: http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/New-Subaru-Impreza-WRX-01-06-Carbon-Vortex-Generator_W0QQitemZ400020630919QQcmdZViewItemQQptZ UK_CarsParts_Vehicles_CarParts_SM?hash=item4000206 30919&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14&_trkparms=66%3A2|65%3A1 5|39%3A1|240%3A1318?).

For tuning advice regarding non-turbo Imprezas, there's another site/forum called: .:ImprezaSport.net:. . They would be the best for offering advice as they will have been there, done that, etc. Plus, there's bound to be some intersting project readthroughs, etc...

Please accept my apologies for that post... For what it's worth, I do actually feel a bit of a rotter (I'll make sure I give myself a damn good thrashing when I get home ).
